International Services Center announces its inaugural presentation of the “Champion of Immigrants” Award on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 to former Congressman and Mayor of Cleveland Dennis J. Kucinich.
Congressman Kucinich is the grandson of immigrants from Croatia and Ireland. He grew up in the ethnic neighborhoods of Cleveland and knew the life of the working class ethnics as well as African Americans and Latinos. As a Member of Congress, his advocacy for immigrants and refugees helped a large numbers of them get to this country as well as stay in this country.
This award event will be held at the Ariel International Center beginning at 5:30 pm. The “Champion of Immigrants” award was created in the honor of Frances Payne Bolton, former member of the U.S. Congress, and Kenyon Bolton, past Board President of the Nationalities Services Center (now known as International Services Center). Both Frances Payne and Kenyon Bolton are recognized for their outstanding service to immigrants.
